Sizzling Brownie #73: The Valentine Chase !

Hmmm…though we are not very particular abt celebrating Valentine’s Day but one thing we are definitely particular about is celebrating Love and so how can we not rejoice on the day the world celebrates love. 🙂 🙂 This year being our first after coming back home (read all the many options knowing every street and shop) I had still not planned on anything ! [Last year remember this 🙂 🙂 ].

With all the settling down and meeting friends and family and combating bouts of illnesses, I didn’t have any idea how am i going to do anything ! But I wanted to do something, something to give him a break through all the chaos, a moment, a smile, a connection…and i knew what i wanted to gift him though i didn’t know if i could get things done in time. After long hours of online browsing (seeing the same page) and a whole day of anxious ‘gorging on my friend’s head’, finally we were there, in the shop. And i frantically went about searching the item of my choice (which i had decided upon online) but i didn’t find it ! Showed the shop guys their own website 😉 and pestered them enough (in reply to their ‘no stock’ etc). I went on 13th Feb and my fav timepiece was somewhere in some godown on the other end of Bangalore ! I didn’t have the time or the know-how to reach that area (by bus!) and just kept loitering around this store trying to suffice myself with any other model. But No ! Nothing fitted to my desire, for my jaanuu it had to be the one i had seen. Now the kind people at the store offered to get it for me (i was shameless/desperate enough to hint that) only if i paid in advance and the big clause: buy it ! Of course i was there to buy it but without seeing it on display? I wasn’t even given the option of buying something in the same range or higher just in case i didn’t like it. Hmm….now what !! It was pure gamble and not a small amount at that nor a small desire at that. Weighed both out and  ‘anything for love’ won 🙂 So i paid the advance and went back with a hopeful heart and a heavy mind.

The whole evening and the next day me and my friend had this little secret between us playing a huge havoc on our mind. First of all every time i plan something for jaanuu, it’s just so impossible to keep it hidden from him 😛 and to top it i made my friend do that too. I didn’t let her share it with her husband (hubby’s namesake and colleague/close friend from engineering days). We had done the rest of the shopping and planning. There were cards and flowers and midnight cakes, there were perfumes and shirts, chocolates and gifts (thankfully i could get these arranged cz i wasn’t really sure if i can and will get the real thing !)

So midnight cake delivery – 2 cakes for the 2 boys, and their respective gifts and special cards later, it was our turn ! He had got me no cards (he wanted to) or chocolates. He just tiptoed in with his hand behind his back and handed me a small cute red little box and the name said it all ‘Tanishq’ !!! OMG !!! I was like ‘WHATTTT’ even b4 i opened the box and when i did…omgosh !!! Two lovely stylish cute little danglers !! And this was like totally and absolutely and obviously unexpected !!! when we have our anniversary n my bday coming up soon and b4 this day we had never ever gifted each other any thing this expensive on Valentine’s Day. And hubby adds in saying ‘abhi kabhi baat kar rahe the na…best investment’ 😉 OMG !!!

Well he loved the shirt I got for him and the perfume and cards too. It was a double date and double celebration.We video-recorded the whole thing and it was fun to watch the next day ! Next day ? Yeah on the day ! And i had not got my special gift yet and it was already around 7.30 pm even after numerous rounds of enquiry and tons of anticipation ! Then hubby called he is on way home and we all had a movie to catch at 9pm !!! Hmmm….fingers crossed and praying pls pls pls I call up the store and they say ‘it has just arrived’ !!!

I rush in from the balcony to discuss with my friends what to do next? I can’t go with my friend now..she is all dressed up and looking lovely in a saree 🙂 nor with her husband, the namesake friend 😉 cz that wd make things really obvious so i decide on the best option…go with my man ! 🙂 🙂

So i ride behind him to the store, make him drive a little further and wait there while i rush in, check the timepiece and just say wowwwww…scribble out my heart on a card, while answering hubby’s calls of  ‘all fine?’ and then rush back to him happy and beaming. And then a fun happy zippy ride home where  finally i gift him his Valentine’s gift 🙂 🙂

And he absolutely loves it !!!

This whole chase remains unforgettable but the reward i got was no doubt best of all !!! 🙂 🙂
